Tell me about your digital camera.

Mine went to the "bigger picture" in the sky and so I'm in the market for a new one. What brand and model do you use. Are you happy with it? Price Range? Features? Battery Life? Quality of photos? Compatibility? any issues?

FYI... the one that I had was a Sony CyberShot and I was never thrilled with it. It was bulky and the picture quality wasn't that great. (Everything came out with a red hue if the picture was taken in a dark room) Battery life was so-so. It cost almost 400 bucks and it died after only 3.5 years of use. (I take care of my electronics)

Before I invest in a new camera I would love to hear some ramblings from you guys!

I have a canon S5IS. I like it a lot thou I like big cameras LOL

I have a Canon EOS Rebel SXi and absolutely love it. Ordered it online for around $900. (Cheaper than Walmart sold it) Battery lasts a long, long time. It's not a pocket camera, but for shots of bouncing goat kids, I needed one that's fast and produced great photos.

I'm a pro and have a 5D Mark 2 and a Canon 40D

For my camera that goes in my purse for impromptu pics I have a Nikon Coolpix. (Ran me about $150, plus free printer at the after Thanksgiving sale.)

You can't go wrong with Canon and Nikon.

If you want something that will grow with you def get an SLR (interchangeable lenses) Some of the Canon kits are like $500.


BTW, if you have a Ritz or Wolf Camera in your area, many are going out of business and are having huge sales.

Here is what I wrote in the other thread with some example pictures:

I have an olympus sp560 with an 18x ultra zoom. I think it is 8 mega pixels. So far that camera has worked out really well for me. In a few years I'd like to upgrade to an slr, but this one works fine for learning on. I paid about $400 for the camera, but I know you can probably find it cheaper at other stores. I bought it at a camera store my uncle worked at and got his employee discount.

Here are a few photos I've taken with it. The quality is not as good with the resized pics. They look much better large!

As far as battery life goes, mine is excellent. Its works on AA batteries and I use the rechargeable ones from Radio shack. I usually recharge them and I'm good to go for an entire day of heavy shooting, if not more than that. I usually leave my camera on when I'm out birding too because I never know when I will see something and need to snap a pic quick! The other great thing about it is that if you forget to charge the batteries before, you can just stop at the store and pick up four regular AA batts and those will last a week if not more. Sometimes the rechargeables will last one or two weeks before having to recharge them again.

So far no issues with the camera, but I still have a lot to learn. Its a great camera for people who are newer at photography but want to get a more serious. I wouldn't recommend it as a professional camera, but it has the features of a point and shoot and the option to make it more professional if you feel the need to do so!
