I have a sliding door my DH built the track on the inside and it has a pulley system. It is weighted with a pvc pipe which is filled with sand this way I don't have to worry about the door falling and beheaded one of my babies.
If it ever stops raining I'll go out and take a picture

I never thought of using the old window weights for the pop door. Great idea!!! Will have to talk to the dh about upgrading the door.
Right now I have to go into the run to open the door. It opens up and out and latches to the roof of the run. I really want a sliding door there though.
What I'm most curious about is this - what keeps a clever animal from prying up the door? I've got a pop door that runs up the inside of the coop wall, and it slides down below a lip, but is that really safe?

I'd be very interested in seeing your pic of this. I think I have seen greenhouse doors which used a brick on a rope as a counter weight that automatically closed the door.

I have lifted my pop door when the first line I had on it broke. Actually it wasn't all that easy to lift from the botton. I grabed where the line attaches to the door. I wonder if a critter would figure that out?
