Tell me if I'm crazy for wanting goats in Los Angeles. PLEASE

They are fun! But maintenance is required.
  • Health care. Seasonal vaccination. Weather related illness.
  • Shelter from elements.
  • Periodic intervals of hoof trimming.
  • Predator Prevention.
  • Proper diet and "over eaters disease" prevention.
  • Routine inspection of Bowell movements and catching evidence of scours asap.
  • Having the commitment and stamina to keep up with all the extra responsibility inherited with taking on the care and well being of said goat(s).
  • Having enough grassy area and or areas to rotate out for grass to recover.
  • Some plants and shrubbery can be toxic to goats. Is your said area ready and researched to seek out these dangerous foil ages?
Not trying to scare you at all. When we started with goats 10 years ago, I wish I didn't learn the hard way. I should have done my home work.
I love my herd and if I had to do it again, I would still do it! But I would research the snot out of it first.
Knowledge is power.. Good Luck our your endeavor.
