My Australorps were about 6 months old before any of them started laying. Out of 5 I only have 1 that is really laying(about 1 egg a day from her). I found my first beautiful egg on 10.20.08 and today I collected my 6th egg. Two of the others look very near to laying as well. Sooo... I am hoping they will very shortly join the egg layers club. I know it feels like an eternity, but you'll see, the wait will be very much worth it!

I have 18 pullets from 23 weeks old up to 32 weeks old. Of those, only 5 have laid one egg. Not the 32 week old Easter Egger-she's holding out till Doomsday, LOL. My Barred Rocks in that group were the first to lay, then one of the two New Hampshire then one of the Welsummers. The other NH just laid her first today, at 26 weeks old. I feel your pain. Out of 30 hens and pullets who are current layers, I got 6 eggs today. Changing seasons, diminishing light, colder temps all play a part.
