Tell me some cool breeds

I know very little about chicken breeds. I do love my Welsummers. I chose them for a variety reasons: climate tolerance and weight, egg production, coloring, great foragers, and the roosters are gorgeous.

There's a Japanese something or other around here someone recently acquired as a house chicken. He's the cutest littlest rooster ever. So if you want cute, maybe someone can suggest his breed.

As for those naked neck creatures, creepy looking critters.

Even though they look creepy they make great pets. Very friendly and surprisingly cold hardy.

I like faverolles but they aren't for everyone, they're very sweet but quite silly. I'd recommend them if you've got alot of patience and a good sense of humor. Good point to them is they're very docile and don't fight, bad point they're bearded and feather footed so in wet weather they get a little messy.;)

I love that breed

they would be enclosed in a 10 x 10 chicken coop with a 100 x 150 lot to run around in, i live in KY so hot in summer and freezing in the winter
Jaerhon is my vote for the best breed that handles extreme cold and extreme heat. However, I don't think you have extremes at either end of the thermometer.

Awesome thanks! I know a lot about breeds and stuff, but I was more looking at your guy's experience with your favorite chickens, and why you like them. Thanks so much!

Jaers for the previously mentioned reason plus they are a small breed only slightly larger than a bantam but lay a lot of pretty large white eggs.
Jersey Giants lay well and I call them gentle giants as one of the few breeds that would let me pick them up in the field. White and blue are much more uncommon than black.
Penedesencas are rare and lay extremely dark eggs. The only breed with a white earlobe yet lay a brown egg. The only breed with a carnation comb. They are great free range foragers and very predator aware during the day. Being a Mediterranean breed, they are quite heat hardy. The black is a DP variety. They are my favorite breed of all.
Minorcas are the largest of the Mediterranean breeds and lay huge eggs. They come in Black, White and Buff.

Gosh... where to begin... Standard or Bantam? Feather footed or clean legged? Crested, bearded, muffed or no? Are you going for mellow tempered? If you live in a warm climate, you might want large combed chickens. However, if you live where it gets below freezing, you might want small combed chickens...

I prefer clean legged because they are easier to maintain and are less prone to scaly leg mites... so I'll start with those. :)

These are just some of my favorites...
