Tell me what I am seeing - BAD EGG??

Do you see any red veining at all? Usually I find that if it's dark almost black it means that it died and it's black because the blood is old. Is the blob all on one side of the egg? How does the air cell look?

I haven't seen any veins in this one, but it is a darker egg, like to never saw this until last night. I had been seeing something, but wasn't sure what. The blob is on one side of the egg, ever if you turn the egg, it doesn't move so it isn't floating. The air cell is well an air cell, looks like all the others.

I'd say go for it.

Do you like you LG with the turner?

Its the same one I have and Im having problems stabilizing the temp and keeping the humidity right.

I would probably say it's dead but it wouldn't hurt to leave it in there and see what happens. I guess you never know unless you try. Good luck with your hatch.. I hope it does hatch for ya

I really like it even with all the problems I have had, it is a great small investment. I had the same problems then I solved them I beleive by placing a large beach towel underneath the bator. I can cover it if I need to.

Sounds A LOT like what happened to one of my eggs this hatch... Super dark spot on one side of the egg that never moved. I left it in until tonight - it clearly wasn't developing so I pulled it before I go into lockdown tomorrow. I've got it on the kitchen counter right now trying to work up the nerve to crack it and see what happened... Not sure I can do it though

I would leave it in for awhile though and see what happens, you never know at this stage!

Editing to add a couple of pics of what mine looked like for comparison:

It's too early to do a float test anyway.. one wouldn't generally do the float test until after the hatch date has past. Look for veins around the air sac. I generally don't pull duds until day 12 with chicken eggs.

Thanks for all the comments. I am going to wait a bit longer to see if anything will happen. I hope that it is okay. Will let you all know what happens.

X2

I just had one that still looked like that around day 10 and it had died at day 7 or so. By day 10 a large part of the egg should be dark with development and not just be a dark spot floating around.

I have had very dark eggs that were not viable that I left in the incubator for 24 -25 days and they never smelled and did not "explode" when I checked them. It generally takes a while for a fresh egg to go bad. (I left them in because I could not see well through the shell and did not want to accidently cull a viable chick.)
