Tell me what you feed your geese in the winter...

Bears are in the same county, but not my neighborhood. I am told we have lions in our hills, but have not personally seen them. I mostly see deer, elk, marmuts, snow hares, hawks and eagles. I hear coyote and have seen scat on my walks, but have not seen them on my property. Of course, we also have raccoon and mink... my two biggest predator threats.

Glad to hear your new fence is doing its job so well! Bear attacks are not uncommon in northern Utah and are quite serious. I tend to avoid "bear country" whenever possible.

By the way, our wild turkey flock has started moving back to their old stomping grounds this week. It's fun to see them on my daily walks again.
You haven't lost any more recently to mink or raccoon have you J? I love to see the Turkeys last Friday when I was going out to the G store, there was a herd of them in the road I had to literally stop some flew to the river the others just walk off. I'm surprised I haven't seen any flattened on the road since most people live up in this hollow don't use their brakes when coming down the mountain. I almost hit a deer coming up from the river to cross the road, thank goodness I was going slow, but my dachshund ended up on the floor board of the truck. He's use to it though. lol Tonight on PBS My life as a Turkey for anyone who didn't see it last year 8:pm

No losses since the duck earlier this summer. We trapped 9 raccoons in less than 3 weeks after that loss and seemed to have eradicated the predator situation for the moment. We have been fortunate overall to have only lost a total of 1 goose, 4 ducks, and one young gosling to predators in the past 2 years, even though the only birds we lock up at night are our domestic ducks.

Well, serv, as you probably know from history, there used to be bears in Europe, but people killed them all.  And there are poisonous spiders in England, there´re increasing in number, so watch out!

Brazil you reminded me that this summer was on degree hottest in ireland then the last record and this year their was the first spotting of a false widow spider and they came from the UK and since it was so hot this summer (which never happens in ireland )the false widow spider manged to repopulate in Dublin! It supposed to have populated so much that they were spotted in different parts in ireland around Dublin! And now i feel unconfortable and doomed :-( i hope i dont spot this spider for aleast acouple of years or never !
