That is one of my most favorite things too is to watch the Rooster dance. My Roody points to the ground with one wing and does sort of a shuffling side step. I nicknamed it the Roody Shuffle. My husband and I never get tired of watching it.
That is exactly what I am doing: buying property for the flock. I found an 8.26 acre plot only five miles from my house; escrow closes tomorrow and the first coop build will be started by Friday.Well I got my notice as expected from the city code compliance zoning official he says I have 10 days to get rid of our rooster named shade and move our coop farther away from the neighbors fence to meet locals restrictions. I am so very tempted to go by land outside in the unincorporated part of town but it is very expensive. We love our rooster and love seeing and hearing him in the back yard I'm sure my children will be very upset. What else can we do though when we have been reported by a nosy neighbor who does not like the sound of roosters
We had a Rhode Island Red and Barred Rock rooster.. but we have no use for em so we took em back to the farm.
But then I got three straight run silkies and ended up with two roosters.
One who is incredibly sweet with us but not when he's with other chickens so he's a pet now! He doesn't crow much so yeah!
And who wouldn't keep this handsome boy? He crows a LOT though.
