This is hard! I love the giant breeds. Right now I am going to have to say Brahmas but my buff Orpington is absolutely hilarious and she is so friendly. Same with my barred rock. But I just adore my two Brahmas as they seem so intelligent (for chickens) and just have such an amazing look and personality.

We have an Orprington and barred rock, and I can agree that they are very friendly and a great breed!

Do hybrids count? I love our Sapphire Gem. She is so docile and sweet. Higher on the pecking order but not mean or aggressive. She’s huge but lays the tiniest eggs every day.

Thank you! She is a very pretty and very sweet girl! She has been through so much. She lost one sister to a cat and her other one to a freak accident causing it to kill itself. I reallt want another sussex so she isn't the only one I have.

I haven't had that many breeds, but if I had to choose one as my favorite it would be the Plymouth Rock. Ameraucana-type Easter Eggers are my favorite chickens.

Wyandottes are very beautiful. They are a great choice.

I have one hen that is so happy to see me that she flies into my arms

Jersey Giants, Hamburgs, and Wyandottes are in my awesome birds list, but so are BY mixes (bitsas), Dominiques, and Brahmas. I love the independent intelligent type birds, but my little Twirp

Is a ticking time bomb of reproductive problems. Tiny little lady (maybe 4 pounds soaking wet), EXTRA large eggs. Haven't had a not soft shelled egg out of her in the better part of 2 years, and haven't had ANY egg in over a year. She's barely 3. And yes, she gets extra calcium.

Each bird (even in the same breed) has their own personality and if I could get Twirp's attitude in a heritage bird that would live 8-10 years, I would jump all over that. Don't care what breed at that point.
