Telling the sex

How do you know the sex and at what age can you tell what they will be?

There are many ways to tell sex but the most reliable is to wait til they grow up.

Certain breeds are not easy unless you can "vent sex". Google this term and you'll see what I mean.

Other breeds can be sexed as chicks such as the "sex links" which is crossing breeds in which chicks male and female are different colors.

Then there are the "barred/cuckoo" breeds in which one sex is lighter in color than the others.

There are many folk lore ways of sexing chicks but none is reliable. Some swear by "wing" sexing but again not as reliable or accurate.

Some will disagree with this information but you have to decide who you choose to believe.
