temp fence idea

As long as you're there to supervise (and retrieve chickens that go over the top), and don't do it on a windy day, sounds good.

A more compactly-storing, cheaper version, though, would be to just use a roll of that black-or-green plastic garden netting. Put a broom handle or piece of rebar thru it to facilitate rolling and unrolling. Attach the end to a fence or the coop or whatever, then unroll as much of the fence as you want to enclose an area. Support it with plastic step-in posts (buy at feed store, about $1.50 each, you want the plastic ones NOT fiberglass, they're with the electric fencing supplies). If you put the posts in so the fence is taut, it will stay pretty well.

Good luck, have fun,

I want to fence off my garden area to let my chickens take care of the grass, weeds, unwanted bugs but want something that is temporary and easy to work with as it would only be until time to till it up. Ideas on how high a fence I would need for Silkies as it would only be during the day.
