Temp & humidity???

I just purchased a pro series 4200 air heat incubator. I just put the chicken eggs in with temp degrees of 100 & humidity at 60%. One more question if the humidity starts going down is ok to quickly add warm water when needed.. Any info will help first time user!! Thank you!!!

Are you in lockdown or in the first 18 days? 60% is too high for the first 18 days, and it sounds like you just put them in so it would be day one?

Your humidity is high, you want to lower that. I'd start at 45% and check the eggs and see how the air cells do with that and adjust accordingly.

Yes, you can open the incubator. You're going to need to if you want to candle the eggs. Hens get off the nest for 30 minutes to an hour every day so they can easily handle cooling off for that long.

A lot of times the instructions that come with incubators aren't great, and they don't work for all climates. For example, in my climate I need to keep the humidity at 30% or all my embryos will drown. So it's best to start somewhere in the middle like at 45% and then just make sure the air cells progress as they should by candling them, and if they aren't progressing properly, make adjustments as needed.
