This site is more addictive than facebook. Love it.

Need some advise/reassurance. Do you think they will be ok?

Day 2 temp got to 110 for about 1 - 1.5 hours at most. I thought my thermometer was wrong but it was actually my digital one, found this out after testing it with a 3rd one that matched the mercury thermometer.

I candled them on day 3, should i see veining at this stage all i could see was a mass the size of the egg yolk. There were a couple of clears. I have 32 incubating.

I have a still air auto egg turner incubator. "hovabator".

Temps have now been steady since at 100.5 - 101.5.

It's like in the last few weeks of pregnancy, it feels like it's going slower than the whole nine months!

Thank you all! from a little Tasmanian Devil..

About all of the information I can offer based on personal experience (which is...I am on day 18 of my first hatch), is that on day 3 you should be able to candle the egg and wait a few seconds and see the "blink" of the heart beating. I could see their hearts beat on day 3 (15 days ago) in my white eggs, so it depends on egg color, I suppose.

I know that too hot is worse than too cold, but I'm sure others can offer more specific experienced-based information.

I had a spike to 115!. I have 20 eggs in the bator. I know 14 are good. 1 is questionable and 5 are green so I can't see through them. I'm on day 10. I would definitely not give up! I should also add that 2 of my eggs are held together with candle wax because my 2 year old cracked them when I wasn't looking. Also, when I first put them in the incubator, I had a wood fire going in my house. The temps would fluctuate between 94-104 frequently as the fire would get hot and go out. As my mom says "chickens eggs are forgiving".

Don't give up. Wait a few more days and then candle them. There is an awesome sticky under incubating and hatching eggs. You can search it too. I think it's called chicks are here:progression through incubation. It has great pictures of candling from beginning to end!
