I have started a "homemade" bator (basically to see if it will be feasable for me to incubate vs buying chicks). I have everything pretty well set, but a question entered my mind a while ago. With the nights starting to get cooler, what is the maxium temperature drop allowed, before things go bad ? Also, the length of time the temperature can drop before the eggs are no good? I hope this makes sense. Thanks.

I am not sure of the exact answer to you question about maximum time but would suggest that unless you plan on raising the chick in a heated area at lest until they are fully feathered I would not start them now in you area. I live in northeast CT and would not start chick in September.
