Temperature and egg shell quality?

What has been your experience? I ask because I had a curious thing happen. A couple weeks ago, we had a seriously cold snap for a few days. I was out there several times a day cracking frozen water, but even with that, I think they were drinking and eating less than they normally do. They mostly roosted. I noticed a slight decrease in laying, and then a few days later, for 2 days I got a body checked egg and then their eggs had very very slight ridges, running vertical. You could barely see them unless you tilted then in the light and you could not feel them. After that, eggs are back to perfect.

Could it have been the cold snap and lack of water and food or stress?

I would love to know how high or low temps have affected egg quality and in what way.
