temperature at lockdown

Ok so now all 6 have a pip. 2 of them are at the right end. But the first two that have the bigger pips and have their beeks out have not made any progress. They just keep chirping and poking their beeks at the same hole. Its been about 24 hours since their first pip. What should i do now?

I usually start an assist.Using tweezers, I start chipping the shell back from around the pip, moisten the membrane to better view any veining. If the membranes appear free from veining I pull them back as well. I work as far as I can until I come across veining then I stop and give them more time. I am seldom able to do a complete assist at once because most often there is still at some point veining. Anytime you see blood from veins you want to stop.

They hatched! I was about to start helping them out. Literally gathering all the things when in about 15 minutes one of them unzipped halfway. Then it took 5 minutes to break free. 30 minutes later the other one was completely hatched!! Just waiting for the other 4 now. I will be so happy and amazed if i get a 100% hatch rate

Yay!! I'm hatching out of the magic fly (the oblong one) and nearing lockdown.
I was a little worried bit your success has made me feel better.

Omg thats the same incubator im using! I was very worried because it does not come with anything to read humidity but so far today, day 21, 4 have hatched all by themselves and the other two are starting to zip right now!

ironically the ones who have already hatched are the ones that piped at the wrong end. And the "correct" ones are taking the longest lol

I had read about the humidity, so I ordered a temp/humidity sensor and dremeled a hole just wide enough for the wire to slip through on the lip of the incubator bottom.
I've been keeping humidity around 40-45%. I'm hoping I have 100%. Lol. I have 7 eggs in, all have looked good when candled. I should have results by Wednesday.

No, the temp should not be raised for lockdown. Actually many hatchers actually drop the temp a degree(farenheight) at hatch time. No, locking them down a day early is not going to hurt anything. My concern would be humidity during the first 17 days. Without a hygrometer and not checking the air cells to monitor moisture loss, would be my concern. At day 19 you may or my not see action if your temps were on target. I'd expect to see or hear something by late 20, but if temps ran a bit low, they could be slightly delayed. Has your thermometer ever been checked for accuracy? Good luck with your hatch.
I know this is an old thread, but I have a question. What should I lower my temperature to in a forced air incubator?
