I start my chicks at 90°F measured at the bedding level. If you set it for 90°F measured as the air temperature, it will be far too hot at the bedding level.View attachment 1378172 I should aim for 90 degrees Fahrenheit at head level? I have 100 Cornish cross arriving soon and 4 heat lamps. They are R40, red bulb, 250 watts each.
