Temperature Spike

You keep the lid and just put it back on and hold it when turning the eggs when you use an egg carton. Thanks for the info on still air incubators, I will be reading up on that for sure. What puzzles me is I did not have this temp spike the last batch and had a 100% hatch rate, course it was only two eggs.

This time I have four. Tonight Im getting a hovabator. Thank you for the heads up on craiglist. I did find a hovabator on there but someone already grabbed it. It was probably you!!

hahaha!!! Im just crossing my fingers and hoping I didnt fry them. I'll know by Sunday or Monday as they are suppose to hatch out this weekend. Tonight is the last turn.

Keeping fingers crossed for you.

I only had my 1 little one hatch this morning. I have another set going on lockdown tomorrow. I know for a fact that 2 were moving lastnite...couldnt see the others well enough to tell. Only 6 in this batch.

Im not using the LG as the hatcher this time. Im taking the turner out of the hovabator, using egg cartons with bottom cut out for the ones not ready for lockdown, and laying the ones due to hatch on their sides. Then will try the sitting a book under and removing it to tilt the eggs in the carton.

Stupid LG. Keep us posted.

Ok are you filpping large end up then large end down, if so thats not good. Yes the fan will make for better hatch rate, just dont forget temp, should be 99.5.

HAPPY HATCHING

I just gently rock side to side holding the ends on the long side. When I candled I would see movement until two days ago they were so dark you couldnt see inside. Im just hoping they are ok. Everyne makes mistakes, its what you do with that knowledge later that makes you a better person.

Rammy, sorry not trying to point out your mistakes. Yes we all have to learn. I know, I have make many myself.

Stupid LG!!!!

After I got my new hatchling out and removed the non hatching eggs, Ive got nothing in my LG now. Have all in the hovabator. Im going to try hatching in it while still incubating other eggs.

You got the temp stablized now?

Yeah, its gone back down to 100. This has done this three days in a row also. I also have realized today that the eggs arent suppose to hatch til Monday as thats the day I set them, so I stopped turning a day early. I really screwed up this time. Temperature spikes and stopped turning too soon. If any hatch I'll be suprised. Ive been coming in seems like every five minutes looking for zipping, pipping, any sounds at all coming from the eggs. Next two days will be an eternity.

Stopping turning a day early wont matter I dont think.

Im not sure about the daily temp spikes. Mine did that and Ive only had 1 hatch out of 2 sets. But I suppose it could be operator error on my part with other aspects.

I kept looking and looking for pips this time through, and it happened when I wasnt expecting and checking. I would go in just to look at the temp, but stopped closely looking through the window with the flashlight for pips. Then next thing I knew, I had a pip!

I will be out of town the next couple of days, but I expect updates and pics (if any hatched yet) on this thread when I get back!!
