I'm so very new to this, so forgive my "newbieness." I have two three week old chicks. I'm not sure what they can tolerate. It's about 55 degrees outside. I take them outside all day during the day, but it's been much warmer until today. Is it too cold to take them in the yard with me on days like this?

I think 55 is too cold for 3 week old chicks unless they are fully feathered, but I doubt they are yet. You could probably take them out for a short while. Sometimes exposing them to a title cooler temperatures can promote feather growth and get them out of the Ouse or brooder a little faster.

Chicks that young can't be that chilly for so long, only for short periods. They don't need to be under heat lamps at all times--if they were with a broody hen, they'd be scooting around outside--but they will go back under Mama to get warm at regular intervals.
