Tempory or portable fencing ideas and recommendations?

Any first hand experience or ideas for using temporary or portable fencing? I'm looking to set something up for ducks and geese that I can move around the pasture. It needs to be able to keep birds in and dogs/predators out. I'm mostly worried about eagles, hawks, and dogs.

how many birds are you going to have? I have 4, and when I first got them, I didnt trust they would stay around the house. I used a dog kennel, and had my husband mount wheels on it. i used the wheels off an old broke-down push mower. attach it to the back of your mower and just slowly drag it to where you need it. for the top, i used old fishing net. but you can always find something at your local home improvement store that can work just as well as that netting. we had the kennel just sitting around, so i repurposed it for the girls.

I just installed electric poultry netting from Premier. It was real easy to set up. You can use a 110V AC charger( What I have), or you can use solar power. They have the netting in different heights and lengths. It won't do a lot for flying predators, unless you rig up some bird netting up over everything. But it will sure deter a dog.

Thanks--I already do that for my 2 pet ducks. I want to get geese, though, and they need lots of grazing area. Plus I have some Ancona ducks hatching soon so I will need more space. Sorry, I wasn't very specific in my question.

I was hoping to make a larger grazing area that will feed the geese during the grass growing season. I want either 1 or 2 pairs of geese, plus around 10 ducks.

I have 10 acres, so there's plenty of room, I'm just not sure how to best use the land. Ideally, I would like to keep fencing moveable, so I'm not locked into any particular plan. I also have 3 horses, but I'm not sure that I should put waterfowl in with them. I could see the ducks and geese getting stepped on.

One of my dogs would definitely kill ducks or geese if he could get to them.

I was looking at that online. Does it really work well and is it really safe? I use Electobraid fencing for my horses, but just wasn't sure how it work work on poultry. I mean, ducks aren't the brightest bird around.

The netting is made specifically for poultry, so I would think it's safe. You can tell when a chicken gets a little too close, they definently don't like it. But here, in my case, I had to do something. I have some VERY opportunistic foxes around here. Unless somebody is here to watch after the birds when they are out, it's like playing Russian rullett around here. Now when we are away, we let them out in their playpen protected by 6000V walls. You can call Premier, and they can answer any questions you have.

I've been researching electric fencing for my chickens. I don't have ducks, but I've been wanting to get some. From what I read, ducks and geese are prone to trying to walk through the fencing more than chickens for some reason. They sometimes get tangled, and can die. The manufacturer doesn't recommend electric fencing for ducks. But then again, there may be someone here with experience who uses it with no problem?

That's really what I was afraid of -- them getting electrocuted. That's why I asked this question. I have a hard time picturing my ducks learning to stay away from the fence. Every time I feed, my Welsh Harlequin duck gets so excited when she sees me coming that she leaps/flies a couple feet off the ground -- and crashes into the chain link kennel.

Hmmm... is there anyone who has tried this time of fencing with ducks and geese???

I use the electric netting to keep my chickens OUT of my garden areas.
I don't have ducks or geese, but it does work for the chickens.
Sometimes one of my guineas will just fly over the netting and then get stuck inside, but that is not very often.

I have a 5'x90' run that is movable. It's sectional. Mine are 5'x5'x2' feet high. You can make the taller if you feel that 2' in not tall enough for geese. The opening between module would also have to be bigger. For chickens I use a one foot opening. Pictures are here:
