Tempur-Pedic Mattress ** Update!

Bestest thing ever---AWESOME WHEN PREGGERS. Mine never had a smell until...

Make sure you buy 2 of the matress covers though. 1 kid barfs on it the ONE DAY you are washing the cover, and the smell never comes out.

I have had mine for about 3 months now. I am starting to love it, but it has taken time to adjust and I expected that.
First - if you do not like to be warm, forget about it. This is not a problem for me. I do wake up hot sometimes and throw the covers off. That said, I sleep alone because DH and I have different schedules. If we were sleeping together, I would have to have a king size or I would get too warm from him creating even more heat.
There is an odor which dissipates after awhile. Doesn't really bother me - I think all mattresses have a factory odor at first.
It does take some getting used to. The foam is pretty hard at first, but will gradually soften a bit over the first few weeks. Give it time if you don't like it right away. I sleep on my side and it was darn uncomfortable until the foam finally softened - a few weeks. On a side note - I was so out of alignment from my last bed that the tempur made me hurt even worse. I saw the chiropractor a few times and it is so, so much better. I do not have any pain or stiffness in the morning anymore caused by the bed.
Back sleepers should have an easier time learning to sleep on this type of mattress.
I believe in this case you do get what you pay for, and they have a great warranty. I wouldn't mess around with the non Tempur beds unless there was a really good warranty/return program from a company who has been around for a long time.

Well! Tomorrow we are going to order our Tempur-Pedic Supreme Cloud!

I hope we like it, after laying on it at the store for 3 days (well, not 3 days straight

) It is really nice! It has 2 air chambers for cooler sleeping, but I don't mind being warm at night so either way, it should be fine. Now I have to start looking for new sheets and bedspread!

I've had one for about 5 yrs now and absolutely LOVE it! I had alot of hip and shoulder pain while sleeping before I got this bed and now hardly ever have any pain unless I'm at a hotel or visiting family - then the pain is back. BUT, my DH hates the bed. It causes him back pain but the reason is he can't stop sleeping on his stomach and it sinks in the middle arching his back. You really can't be a stomach sleeper on these beds. If you are, like I was, you have to learn to stay on your side or back. Also mine did feel warm and I don't like that but once I took off the mattress cover I haven't had any problems with it.

My in-laws have one and gave it to us. We need to go up and get it. We have slept on it 3 times at their house and we both sleep better. My MIL bought it but they then got a deal on a Sleep number, which works much better for them as they need different firmness.

I bought a 4" Sensus memory foam topper. $500. It's got to weigh 100# or more. First it was so hard, like sleeping on a bed of sand. As a side sleeper, the foam conformed to my body so intensely it sunk my spine...backaches every morning. Don't even want to rant about how HOT it was. Terrible!! We dragged it upstairs...would love to sell it. Got a 1 1/2" foam topper from Walmart for $44 and sleep like a baby!

We need a mattress too. Talking with friends many have recommended getting a foam topper to place on a regular mattress.Someone mentioned the foam mattress got rock hard after a few years.Maybe that is with the knock-offs. Very hard to decide on a bed.As long as returns are easy I would say the only way to know is to give it a try.

I never liked the idea of the Tempur Pedic at all. Hot, hot, hot! I sleep with a ceiling fan on in the winter, to put it into perspective. And what happens if something is spilled on it? Seems like you wouldn't be able to clean it. Guess the point is moot since I can't afford to replace my horrible mattress with even a regular one so couldn't afford it anyway. I may try that topper someone mentioned from Walmart, but I doubt it would fix my 15 year old mattress.
