So noted they are on same date and looked at the Fair rules and thought, it might be doable....Until I noticed something about : it seems you have to Leave your Birds for like a week... days after the Poultry show is over and "can't' leave before that week.....I have only been to Poultry shows, not a fair and is this the norm and true? So if I am out of state and go ,I'd "have" to stay for a week? (ummm, don't want and can't afford to stay a week......so, that may make it a "no go".... I guess it is a way to force people to stay and spend tourist or at least fuel money...) that is very impractical on many counts.... maybe it is a holdover, from when the whole state came and stayed for all the doings.... oh, well.... that sort of limits it to people within a few hours or those who like to drive. It is 3 hours away or so... but I can't stay a week:2-3 days might be fun...and affordable.... but my farm sitter would have a breakdown...

If it's only 3 hours away go drop off Tues. and pick up Sunday. If you want a day at the fair I'd stay until Wednesday from the drop off as the fair wont be as crowded.

All county fairs in my area work the same way, livestock drop off Tues. afternoon, fair starts Wed. and you get a pass to pick up animals Sunday afternoon. Your livestock is part of the exhibit and can't leave until end of exhibition.

The Drop off is on Thursday ,Friday, and judged on Sunday , then you can't take them until the next Friday it is the State Fair..the question is then... Who feeds and waters twice a day for 8 days? and with Waterfowl, leaving them without bathing water for a week is a bit rough on them, and Geese in a small cage for that long is stressful too.... I take care of mine at he SouthEastern show (not a fair), so assuming I have to take care of and feed my own feed for the duration, and waterfowl often need way more water than chickens.... so it is seems very impractical... I am about 3.5 hours away and would like to go for like 3 days, but after that it is too much time and money for Seniors...;0) ... I mentioned it to a relative who shows rabbits and they said they can leave... but they have learned not to take their best animals as they get stolen.... so , I guess this is not a practical format in these times.... which explains why I have been to some fairs and wondered why their weren't more animals.....
