Tennessee

Hello! I just wanted to say hi, I’m in Oakland in southwestern Tennessee. This is my first time having chickens. I started out getting 6 3 day old straight run chicks that are GLW. They’ve been such a joy to raise so far! Saturday evening I purchased 2 GLW hens, he said they’re 9 months old. As of yesterday I’ve gotten 4 eggs from them already! So proud of them and so excited! Also on Saturday evening I got 2 4 week old Blue Plymouth Rock chicks and 2, possibly, Colombian Rock chicks (I was lead to believe they were also 4 weeks but they can’t be more than a week, so babies again!) They’re tiny! One is likely a runt but she’s growing slowly but surely! (She sold those 4 as pullets so fingers crossed!) I’m just here to learn and maybe make some chicken parent friends!
*The GLW hen with the scratched up back came to us in that shape. Picture was taken Sunday, she’s already looking better and fluffier!
Welcome from the opposite side of this long state! My son went to optometry school in Memphis, so I was out your way a couple of times. I'm awaiting my first chicks while I build their coop and run, and I share your excitement!

Hello!! I went through that about 6 weeks ago! Took me about 2 weeks to get and build it, still doing things to better it day by day.
When do you get your chicks? Do you know what breeds yet? Very exciting!

We have been involved in an insanely slow build, hampered by limited time and iffy weather. And limited carpentry skills, of course! We’ll be ready by the time the chicks get here in late May, though. Coop is essentially done except for installing the nesting boxes and we’re working hard to finish up the run.

I have 6 ordered: an ameraucana, a barred rock, a red star, a buff Orpington, a cuckoo maran, and a speckled Sussex. I know they might not all make it, but it seemed like a good place to start. 12 is my max, but I was thinking I’d add three a year to have them at different ages.

I have Roos, free for rehoming. I’ve acquired too many 😂 ages ranging from almost a month to almost a year. All different breeds. Pictures below
