Hi folks, Nice to see so many neighbors on here. I'm from Greeneville. Greene co borders NC for those of you who don't know where it is.
I am currently raising peafowl, pheasant, and serama chickens. . I hope to add some other breeds of chickens like cochins and polish soon. If anyone is interested in seramas I have some extras to sell or trade
I am looking for more pheasant breeds to add to my list also. I currently have red golden and ringneck and would like about any other breed I could find.
I am looking for some green, pied, or white peafowl too.
One other thing, Does any one know where a good flea market or something is that usually has a large selection of birds (besides just chickens) here around east TN. I know a couple of places but would like to find some more if I could. I see many people talking about these big shows and buying bunches of birds but I can never figure out where the shows are going to take place.
Hello everyone, My name is Cathy I'm 57 and I live in Joelton, just 15 minutes from Nashville. I have 7 ac. a pond and a very large barn. I have Silkies and EE's LF. I love hatching babies, have some due in four days and my broody hens just hatched some yesterday and today. We have one large run and building two more. I would like to say if it wasn't for BYC's I wouldn't be where I am today. Thank you every one for making chickens so much fun.
I love my husband two grown children and 5 grandchildren. My first love were horses and still have two. I like flowers, gardening, fishing, camping, camp fires, four wheeling, boxing, races and cooking.
There is a Trade Day at the old stockyard grounds in Morristown on the first Monday of each month. Its mostly chickens but there are usually a few other birds there as well. We will likely be there in May selling the rest of our barnyard mix chicks (if we don't sell them before) and hopefully some Embden goslings if we have a good hatch rate.
There is a also a flea market north of Tazewell on 25E that has a fair number of birds some weekends. Other weekends, not so much.
Silkietime- did you see the thread about the middle TN meet and greet? Emmalynn wants to set up a get together in Cool Springs. You should come. I would LOVE to meet you!

Thanks harrell, I do go to the trade day in morristown about every month. Got a friend that sells down there about every month also. Your right it is mostly chickens but I have seen a few pheasant and peacocks down there.
I didn't know about the flea market on 25E, thats a little far from me but not to far if i can find some good birds. I will probably check it out sometime, any particular day that they are open (saturday or sunday) I know I usually go the jonesboro flea market on 11E and they are only open on sunday. They have some decent birds once in a while but getting them at a good price is the hard part there.

Thanks for the info.
The one on 25E is open on Saturdays and Sundays. Saturdays tend to be a little busier (more stuff) than Sundays. A friend of mine sells plants and vegetables there during the growing season. It's a lot like First Monday, 90% chickens but a few others scattered around. I saw a ringneck pheasant there last weekend a there are peafowl there fairly often. There are usually a few guineas and ducks scattered through as well.
