Yeah, ET folks!!!

I've discovered a few more underground poultry pros in the Maryville city limits that are wondering when we're going to have another meet n' greet. Any more word on the picnic or another luncheon?

I think that sounds like a great idea!

If BibliophileBirds is a little busy, we could always hit the Cracker Barrell again and have the picnic in the fall.

Also, when is the next Dandridge swap, TnLou?

my schedule has been absolute anarchy lately, but i'm not giving up on the idea. hopefully i'll have a date nailed down in the next week. i'm so busy caring for birds that i haven't had time to plan a picnic to talk about birds! but we're getting back to some sort of normality now, so i can start thinking about fun things again. i'll let you all know something as soon i as can.

Hi BB I still have that Roo. I did not want him to be anyones dinner . LoL
Good morning all. It nice to see so many here.
Does anyone know how to tell a Roo from a hen at 2 weeks
I have 5 bantam cochins hatched and 4 silkies

I crossed a white silkie Roo x a black silkie hen an
got 2 blue. and 2 beautiful partridge.
I am hoping to get more Silkie hens.
Also the meet and greet
sounds like fun.

Hi KC!

Been running around with some folks from KY last weekend. It was fun meeting more BYC peeps!

Sissy, the only way to know a silkie hen from a roo is to wait until an egg is laid or the bird crows. Not sure about cochins...

I have a d'Uccle roo that needs a home, if anyone is interested.

Good luck, Sissy. I hate being patient!

The Murphy's Law of roos:
If you have too many, then 75% all chicks will automatically be roosters. If you need a roo you can only hatch hens.

you could do what i did and just decide... somehow when my silkies arrived i just knew i had a male and female, so i named them Hansel and Gretel at about 2.5 weeks old. i just made the decision that one was the boy and one was the girl (he was a tad larger as a chick, which is probably how i choose). turned out i was spot on!

you never know, it could work!

eta: that only worked with the silkies. 2 of the ones that i SWORE were hens ended up being NOT hens. but it worked out ok. one of them just fathered some of my new chicks and one of them lives with Justin now (hiya Marbles

Possumblossum- I was there at the Cracker Barrel meet - had a great time. (I was the one with my daughter. ) I feel I am still "new" to BYC. I just got to this Tennessee thread. One of my Easter Eggers girls crowed this AM. I am going to have to find a new home for "her". I heard through the grapevine that you would LOVE to have him. I think he is going to look a lot like the ro that drove you home that day.

from Knoxville (city:)
