Hi Guys

Don't know if anyone can help - a friend has a hen that has a large tennis ball sized lump on its chest, that he noticed for the first time a few days ago, he says its soft and easy to move and isn't causing the hen any pain.

Does anyone have any ideas on what it might be and what hge can do for it.

Thanks

Ditto. If he's worried it could be something else have him take the food away overnight and check in the morning. If it's a full crop (probably is) the lump will be gone--At least it will be gone until she stuffs her little face again.

I agree, it could be the crop. The crop is like their belly

it stays there before being digested.

Glad to see this thread, as I came across this same thing tonight for the first time. I will check again in the morning, Lil Fattie probly just ate too much!

I concur with the above posters... I know it startled me the first time my marans cockerel stuffed himself full after being integrated with the main flock. They've got a big communal feeder instead of the small feed pans that I use for youngsters, so he had access to a lot of food all at once. He's a little piggy.
