You can buy eggs on
eBay, but no live chickens.
Are these Ameraucanas? LOL - well, that's hard to answer.
All of them were *sold* to me as "pure" Ameraucanas, but many of them aren't.
Basically the difference between an EE and an Ameraucana is the color - if a chicken that lays blue or green eggs does not meet certain color standards set by the Ameraucana breeders club [
http://www.ameraucana.org/scrapbook.html ] then it is, by default, an Easter Egger, not an Ameraucana.
[Unless it is an Auracana, which is something completely different....LOL! Are you confused yet? I am!
]
So, the two hens in the top photo ARE Ameraucanas from what I understand - they are a blue and a blue wheaten ["Nugget Jr" and "Blondie"]. The hen in the middle picture ["Popeye"] is also a blue [and a really nice one], but she does not have a rose comb, which may disqualify her, I'm not sure.
I have another hen, "Rainbow" on the webpage - she is definitely an EE, but she is a great "almost every day" layer, so I am breeding her for egg laying ability. [she is also very beautiful IMO!]
My rooster, Prince, definitely does not meet the color standards so he is an EE, but I decided to keep him and breed him because he IS pretty anyway and he is a really nice, attentive, and gentle roo. Temperament is really important to me.
So, I'm calling them all EEs. People probably will get some that meet the color requirements to be Ameraucanas, but I'm selling them all as EEs.
I'm trying to be exceptionally honest and up front about my birds. I have found that to be rare amongst certain folks, and I appreciate honesty myself.
That's also why I put up the webpage with pics of every single one of them, so people could see the exact stock they are getting eggs from.
