Test Incubation: Due to hatch 12/19 (including eggtopsies **graphic pictures**)

They have enough shelter during the day. Their run extends under the big coop. I feel bad because there are 6 roosters in 9 sq/ft of predator proof night shelter.
My idiot Odin wouldn't sleep in his temporary 'coop' which was a rubber maid tote w/ a hole cut in the side. At night he'd perch on the top of it. IDK why he wouldn't go in.. the previous occupant would. So maybe they'll be ok w/ just sleeping on top of it or just near it. Either way their run looks pretty well enclosed & it's sounds like it's very temporary so I wouldn't give yourself a hard time about it.

I'm not even seeing any signs that they are moving around yet. I set the eggs up so that I could tell if hey moved. Is that normal?

Moved, as in rolled on their own? I rarely see mine move. Bobble or shake a bit here and there, but that's about it. I also think the rubber liner they are laying on keeps them more still.

There are a few things you can try to get them to show you some signs of life. Play music, chirping sounds, etc. Clap over the incubator. Peck on the window. My favorite that almost always gets a reaction is turning off all the lights, then shining a flashlight back and forth, over the egg. It will almost always cause a slight bobble, or a peep sound!

Part of the problem with listening for peeps is I'm high pitched deaf. I have to hold young chicks up to within an inch or two of my ear to hear them even a little.

We have activity! One that I can see #11 has a pip and #12 has hatched!!!!!
