So I sold all my eggs except my Marans eggs, which are now too old to sell, so omelets they shall be!
I usually center the egg cartons in bubble wrap, but after going from 18-24 eggs in one box to fitting 36 eggs, I'm sold on trying to continue smooshing in more eggs safely.
Anywho, Test Shipping.
I'm testing out more ways to ship out eggs safely and efficiently.
Preferably, I usually ship out 2 boxes of 18-egg egg cartons, but have run out of 18-egg cartons. (So a total of 36 eggs typically)
I've also had people ship out eggs just bubble wrapped and placed in a bubble wrapped box - I'd really like to try that and see how it goes.
I'm planning on testing one or two boxes of shipping out 3 12-eggs egg cartons laying on their side and see how those go... if that sounds good PM me
$35-$40 would suffice, whatever you plan on sending I'll be happy. Enough to pay for shipping, bubble wrap, some padding and some gas to the Post Office and to con some eggs you'd prefer out of me!
I heard you can ship out up to 25 eggs in the smaller Flat Rates, so if you're wanting to try hatching eggs without paying much, this would be a good deal. I will try to fit in at least 18 eggs (I know for sure I can fit 15) in the box. $25 only - that'll pretty much pay for shipping, the padding I use and some bubble wrap and some gas to the Post Office
I'm really wanting to try and send bantam eggs and see how many I can fit in there.
They'll just be a mixture of eggs, Pure and Mixes (Speckled Sussex, Lakenvelders, Welsummer X SS, FBCMs, Bantam mixes and Cuckoo Marans). Pretty much whatever will fit. Anything goes!
So far, the key is Bubble wrapping each egg... AND padding the box as well as wrapping the egg cartons in bubble wrap until the box bulges. BUT that's just on me.
Let me know if you're wanting anything!
I'd also be willing to trade eggs - mainly wanting to figure out WHY my hatch rates are so low compared to my customers (unfair!!!)
