Did you get the chicks?

@hungnguyen - Did your wife and son arrive safely?

Yes! I'll post pics at the end of my post. :)

Anybody in or around San Antonio interested in some young roos? I have 2 French Black Copper Marans, 2 Lavender Orpingtons, and one Coronation Sussex. Don't really want to send them to the pot. They are about 14 weeks old.

Thanks,
John
Sorry, no where near San Antonio.

Visiting from NY. Going to Galveston. Need advice. B&b? Places to go? PM me please
What are you looking to do and what ages are going?

If all adults, I would go and take the tour to see all the old houses, at least the ones that are still open. DH & I enjoyed that several years ago, the kids didn't much, lol. There are lots of tours you can take, just contact the visitor bureau and they will send you brochures and discount tickets.

Moody Gardens is a fun place to take the kids and adults alike. We've gone several times over the years. I really like the Rain Forrest Pyramid at MG. We went to the aquarium the first year it was open, the kids loved it. We went to Galveston last year and took our 5 yr old granddaughter. We stayed at Moody Gardens and took her to the aquarium. She loved it. It was different than when we went the first year, but I thought it would have more by now.

If you like water parks, Schlitterbaughm is right in front of Moody Gardens. Before going to Galveston, check and see how the beaches are. Least year there was a seaweed invasion. It was awful on the beach. Seaweed everywhere and stink to high heaven!!!

Looking for someone within 40 miles of Lampasas to incubate eggs on the halves. I have guinea, Muscovy and Barnyard chicken eggs ready to be set. I am 10 miles west of Lampasas. If interested send me a Private Message, thanks Ed
Sorry, not near Lampasas and I've never incubated. I hope to try it soon!

Pics as promised:

First week home:

These are when they are about 2-3 weeks old:

Just this past week:

I ended up only getting the BBS Orps. I didn't want to have to worry about building a separate pen for the Black Splits. They were only half English.

H.ow did everyone do with the Memorial flooding?

My partner rescued my birds in time, moved them to high ground as they were sticking their head up to breath with 2 ft water in the coops. All did fine except three 3 mo chicks, drown and could not get to the roost

So sorry your lost your baby chicks! Glad your other ones made it, if only in the neck of time!

Hows young Charlie doing? Bet he's growing like a weed.

hello Hen,
He is 14 mo now and reached 24 lbs already. Yesterday,he tested the US soil when he climbed, stood on a chair, fell down and hit face straight with the hard kitchen floor. This caused severe swelling and still visible with the right eye still half shut. Maybe an adjuster has to come to inspect the house damage ... who know... maybe Total....

It's been a while since the last time I came on here. How have you been doing with the chicks? I recalled you no longer hen-less so how big those roosters be by now?

Babies can sure get into things can't they? Mine used to always be getting into something. Glad he is going to be ok and hopefully he didn't do too much damage to the house. :)

My roos are still babies. They are 6 wks old today, and I'm not for sure which are roos and hens, but I do have my suspicions.

The flooding where I am at was all in designated flood areas (as far as I know). The city has planned well for this type of thing. I added up all the rainfall totals at my house and got 20.7" of rain in May.

No chicks for me this year. I tried a duckling but discovered I am allergic to them. :( I got hives.

I have a puppy though! Meet Aubrey.

Sasha loves her baby sister. :)

I got her from the same breeder I got Sasha from. They aren't related though. I don't think. I didn't compare their pedigrees.

I pulled out their pedigrees to see if my girls are related. They are! They are cousins on their mother's side.
