Ohh! Bacon is a good idea!
We did salt, pepper, basil, and garlic :)
I use a lot of garlic...lol
plus the goat cheese was herbed.
Oh! I don't know if you can have it (or if you like it), but the goat cheese at the farmer's market on Saturdays is AWESOME.
My favorite is the honey apricot, but he has savory flavors too.
I like to make a rosemary goat cheese mac n cheese with chicken...mm...I haven't made that in awhile..since we moved up here actually...

Friday is my first milk pickup!
Paid today, SO excited!!
I figure, worst case scenario, if I don't like the taste, it will make great cheese, butter, and ice cream! lol
But I don't see that being an issue.
I'm not sure if I can eat goat cheese or not. I've been told I can probably drink goat milk and eat the cheese but I haven't tried it yet. I'm allergic to some protein in milk....

When I was drinking milk I went with my dad to his wife's brother's farm in central MN. He is a dairy farmer and does Raw milk. We had their milk for supper. It was so good. Nothing compares to fresh milk. We used to get it at the state fair too. I found out I was allergic to milk after Nathan was born. I've been dairy free (for the most part - I cheat sometimes with stuff, but it isn't worth it most of the time) for 20 years now. I can't say that I miss it, but I would love to have some super cheesy lasagna or pizza at times. Save lots of calories and fat being dairy free. :)

I'm making that thing for supper. Tomato, bacon, basil, rosemary and s&p. Not big on garlic. I don't think it would work in this either. Maybe I'll add some scrambled egg when it comes out of the oven....

Yeah I think the garlic was mixed into the goat cheese.

Enjoy!

Good Morning my friends. Sorry it's been a few day since I was able to get on for any period of time. We have been deep in wedding planning. It's not until next May but I am finding that if you don't important things now then you are out of luck. So I have the venue booked, and I am working on caterer and pictures. Then Friday we are going on our first trip looking at wedding dresses. Just trying to see what she likes.
On top of this I have had my granddaughter a lot, most of the weekend and then again yesterday. My daughter is having some issues and really needs to get them under control but I am hurting bad. My shoulders and elbow are killing me. I really got to figure out what is up with this arthritis and what I can take when it get to hurting me this bad. My Mobic and Salvia is working for the normal everyday stuff. But when I do something it hurts beyond the meds. ANY WAY..... enough of that...LOL

My silkie Cluck Norris is crowing!!!! I hear a good solid little crow this morning and it was him!!
I tried to get it on video but as soon as he saw me he started doing his dance he does when I bring out treats so that was it for the crowing.
You would be surprised how many people wait until a couple of months before the wedding to start getting everything together. Getting it done early is smart!

Have you been to see a Rheumatologist yet? If not, maybe your doc can refer you and perhaps they can find out whats going on. I saw mine yesterday. He made a few med changes, so hopefully I'll be getting some more relief soon. Since I've gone back to work, I'm hurting a lot more.

You need to sneak up and get a video of Cluk Norris crowing and doing his dance!

BTW...... OOUCH!! My butt hurts just looking at that egg!

Wouldn't be hard figuring out who laid that egg..... its the one walking around with one wing covering her vent. LOL

I gave my mom 6 of my eggs and she had one that was a double yolk and it wasn't very big so that one maybe a double yolker!!
She actually walks a tad bow-legged!

Mine have slowed down on laying a bit, I think because of the heat. When do they go through juvenile molt?

I woke up to come clucking that seemed awfully close....
SOMEHOW.....My EEs, Pearl and Little Hawk, had made their way through the mudroom, into the kitchen, then into my bedroom...and onto the bed...
I'm thinking the door didn't get closed all the way last night...

Cute little alarm clocks though...lol
I don't know. I was thinking around 1 yr old? I bet Hung or Lisa would know. They've had chickens for a while.

Did they leave a trail of droplets to the outside?

NICE, NICE, NICE!! Thank you for the advice on making the ACV.
Your welcome! That sounds like the easiest way to make it. :)

I am not sure if you plan to hatch the eggs or just eat them. However, the big long one could be double yolk. I had a hen that always laid 1-2 double yolk before so this looks familiar. So if you eat, count the yolk(s) and let us know. If you hatch, and should the egg actually hatch... then don't be surprise of the number of chicks... and like Mr. Al Gore said " this country demanded a Re-count"
I'll let you know when we crack them. No rooster here (yet), so no babies are cooking in the egg. :)

I just found an amazing recipe to try. I can use my pears in it. I like that you can change it up with any fruit.
That recipe sounds yummy! I don't eat much flour anymore, but on occasion I do. I saved it so that I can make it later. Thanks!

Bacon did someone say BACON!!
There ya are! Where you been hiding???? How are your babies doing? Got Pics!!!??

Busy day yesterday. Had to make a run to Walmart on the way home. Once home, feed the dogs and chickens. I got 5 eggs yesterday, including another big one from Arnet. I hope those big eggs don't hurt her?

I scored some figs yesterday. My Mom's pastor gave us some and I brought mine home and canned them. Made whole fig preserves and fig jam. The whole figs look good, the jam is going to be thick. I followed a recipe online, and I believe I used too much pectin. Still tastes good, just super thick. I don't have to worry about runny jam!!

Can't wait to eat some! I made these low sugar. I put half/half of sugar and Monk sugar. That stuff tastes way better than Stevia or Splenda. It's also real, like Stevia. It comes from the Monk fruit.

We have rain coming in today. We didn't get any yesterday, but calling for up to 3" by tomorrow. Hope everyone gets some. I know our grass is in need of rain badly!

Have a great day everyone!

No droplets!! lol
Thank goodness......it's not a big house so it wasn't a long walk for them

Those preserves look good! It's pouring here. Supposed to be under a flash flood warning later.

Do any other free ranging chicks go out in the rain?
I open the door, and leave it open so they can go in and out if they please...but they prefer to go out and hide under the porch or bushes

I haven't ever tried figs. I think I might need to. I know they grow well here. I've seen the trees. The preserves look yummy.

My venture into trying something new for supper last night turned out ok, but has room for improvement. I think some marinara sauce in it would be good. I'm sure cheese would make a big difference too, but we can't go that route.

I have been wondering about the chickens today. Sasha is not a fan of the rain anymore and I have the hardest time getting her to go out to go potty.

I love the rain we are getting. I wish I had planted more of my garden. So far I only put out new zucchini plants and yellow squash. I gave them half the garden since they grow so huge. I'm going to plant broccoli, carrots, rutabaga, parsnips and carrots (I tried a store bought carrot the other night since I have so many in the fridge and do not like them. My homegrown ones are so much better!) in the other half. I think I have had enough beans for a bit now. I have a bunch frozen too.

We have over an inch of rain so far. It started raining around 4:30 this morning and has been raining ever since for the most part. I was awake from 2:45 to after 6am for some reason. Slept in after I fell back to sleep. It's going to be a lazy day today. Just working and not much else.

Hope everyone gets this rain today.

What rain???? It gave a little 'spit' and that was it for us. My flock LOVES the rain.

Lisa :)

Supposed to continue tomorrow too!

@TexasLisa Mine like it enough to stay out in it! lol
I'll have to bring little Blue in and blow dry her...not looking forward to that. She doesn't care for me, but, better annoyed than sick I suppose!

I saw the cutest polish today...I kind of want one, but they're not very practical...and I like more practical girls lol

I still want some : Aussies, Black Jersey Giants, Javas, Orps and Faverolles

All mine are outside, even the silkies! They have been inside, but obviously prefer to be outside. Fresh Eggs Daily posted this cartoon. I thought it very funny because all my hens are so similar I haven't named them individually
400

Me being a Harry Potter fan, my 6 reds are The Weaselys, my rooster is Harry, black stars are The Ravenclaws; Silkies are The Hufflepuffs, and my red stars are The Gryffindors. Pretty nerdy for a 62 year old!
