Some one wanted pics (like I don't know who) of my silkies mothering the Americana's. So here they are below. I am also going to be picking up 10 BCM on the 14th if all goes well with her hatch.

I'm Roosting Robin - no longer Rockin' Robin. Slow is good! This thread is slow! That way we don't lose anyone's posts!!
That's so cool how even the juvenile silkies are motherly, or fatherly since some might be cockerels. Do you think you'll ever raise Standard Cochins? Some one wanted pics (like I don't know who) of my silkies mothering the Americana's. So here they are below. When I pick up the BCM I will stop for now until I have everyone a coop and pen of their own. I started this to have a few eggs and to sell the eggs I don't use to pay for the feed. After retooling at it I believe there is more money in selling the chicks and I want more then one or two breeds to sell. Long term plan is to have a store here at my house to sell fruit, vegetables, eggs, processed chickens, and baby chicks. Where I live is about 10 suburb housing additions with in a 2 miles on ether side on me. I have been here since 1972. When nothing was around here. I can have all the animals I want and can put on my 3 acres.
I love it! Wish I would have gotten a pic of my Silkie snuggling the little chick.
I love Chunk! I think it's sweet! That's how we refer to sweet chubby babies!Ms Jellybean, those are some beautiful carrots!
This is a very slow moving thread!
Today I am cautiously excited. My almost 3 week old mystery chick that was sent with my 16 red and black star pullets is a standard buff Cochin. I want it to be a rooster since I don't have one except in my silkie pen. I read today that the cockerels are slow to get pin feathers and wings start out very short and rounded. The pic showing a Cochin pullet at 3 weeks was more like the black star below, with longer tail feathers and wings, while the pic of the cockerel was still fluffy butt with short wings, just like mine! Now I need to name him. I chose Chunk, but the grand kids nixed that as being mean![]()
