Umm yikes. I'll touch/handle quite a few things but spiders and roaches are on the no-no list. That's a tarantula isn't it? We saw a bunch in Trinidad when we lived there.

Yes, it is a tarantula. We had them all over the place in Oklahoma. The kids and I would play with them there. I find them fascinating. I must take after my grandfather on spiders. He would not kill them because he said they had a job to do in killing bugs. I love going out on a foggy morning and looking for their webs. They sure have beautiful handiwork.

I agree with the roaches--UGH!!!

Lisa :)

Yes, that's probably a tarantula. I saw one crossing a road near Georgetown. They're neat from a distance! I'm with you there, lovingmychickens. No spiders, crickets, roaches, or June bugs.

Good Morning!

Did anyone get some rain yesterday? We got a nice rain. I had almost finished mowing the field, when the rain hit. The lightning hit pretty close, so I called it quits. Hope to get the yard done today.

What do you think of my new pet?

I was coming back from the mailbox when I saw him climbing up the side of the house. That is the 2nd one I have seen in 3 years. He is a fairly quiet one. Doesn't get excited when I touch him. Pretty neat, isn't it???

Ya'll have a great day!

Lisa :)

We had them all the time at our old house. Haven't seen as many at this house. Although the very first day we came to move in there was one between the screen door and front door to greet us. He got moved to the park. ;)
Did you know that male tarantulas migrate? That is why some years you will see a lot of them and other years not so many.
I like to have the around since they kill so many bugs. As long as spiders stay outside, and aren't black widows or brown recluse, they can stay.
Roaches on the other hand... Hate them. Spawn of satan I am sure. They all must die. We had huge water bugs when we first moved in here. Water bug. Ha! It is still a roach. Yuck! When I cleaned up the yard and started using Bayer Home Defense I got ride of them. Bayer products are awesome. Orkin couldn't get ride of them but I did. :) I have very few bugs, if any, in my house now and no roaches. :)

Makes sense, I see them crossing the road on the way to my MILs in Van Alstyne

I have to ask this one. I have a silkie hen that when she is standing around she has her head down under her chest. She looks like she is looking for something under her but there is not anything there. She does raise her head up when she is walking around and when she stops her head goes right back down under her. Does anyone have a clue as to why she would be doing this ?
