She surprised me too and really wants a fishing pole to "go catch a trout!" Lol
I might go get one of those kiddie ones and take her this weekend if its cooler. I know she wont have the patience for it lol
I bet she would like that! My granddaughter loves to go fishing. Of course, she plays around with the pole more than fishing, but gets a thrill when she catches a perch. :)

The mold I get when I don't use it is worse than the gradoo floating around. Gradoo is my daddy's word for crap. Gra is pronounced gra as in bra. And then do as in doo-doo. Hehe you learned something.

I put a thread up for the spot on Ava's comb. I'm trying to stay up so I've been reading a bunch..which has me worried it could be the beginnings of fowl pox. I don't have a diaper..i'm not sure how I'd completely isolate her for 3 weeks.
I hope it's not the pox.

ACV - Another way to make your own: Pour 1 cup of acv with the "mother" into a gallon of regular acv. Be sure and pour a bit out so that you will have room for the cup. :) Cover with a paper towel and rubber band. Sit in a dark room, closet, or cabinet for about 2 weeks. Once you see the "mother" growing, you can put a cap on it and its ready to use. Just keep doing this and you will always have your own acv with mother. :)

We got a bit of rain last night. Lights went out for an hour or so. I hope we got more over the next couple of days. Everything is starting to dry out here.

There is also some good info on Fresh Eggs Daily. Seems like a lot of good benefits to acv. Some people give it every day and some only a few times a month. I just don't like the residue it leaves in my water. Just wondering if it's a reaction the acv has with my well water? I think I will continue to use it, but not all the time, and I may skip the hottest months. I would rather my chooks drink lots of plain water than a little bit of acv water. I checked their waterer today, and they have drank a lot more today than any day last week.

It was really, really nice here this morning. It was kinda cool and the wind was blowing. I had my granddaughter today and we were outside most of the morning. She had fun playing in her sandbox.

I got 5 eggs today. My newest layer, Arnet (EE), laid one of the biggest eggs I've gotten so far. Sadly, it's not blue or green, but more of a creamy pink.

Henless, I was going to reply yesterday, but it was a BAD day for me. We have well water w/sulphur. We have two wells on our property. The well that goes to the coop, if I put ACV in their water it gets a black scum on it. So the coop gets clear water only. Now the waterers around the house gets ACV and comes from a different well. I don't get the black scum.

What size eggs do Ameracaunas lay?

You guys could share the rain. We actually got up to 102 yesterday. A little warm!

Lisa :)

Henless, how do you replenish the gallon? Aren't you suppose to move the mother to another jar when you make it?

If you do Heinz, read the label carefully, some of their vinegar is only apple cider "flavored" and made from corn. Sneaky sneaky

They make 2 "apple cider vinegars" lol

There are some really good photos of fowl pox here. The article is pretty good too. When I read it last year I felt so sorry for her chicken.

That is really interesting about your water.
Hope your day is better today.

It's gorgeous here today. A tad bit windy, but really nice. :)

It is very nice here. Is this our 'polar vortex'????

I had to put our 18 year old cat down yesterday. That was rough.

It is. Not very polar this far south. :)

I'm so sorry about your kitty. I have one that is 14 and am dreading when that time comes.

There is this way too.

Heinz has ACV with the Mother and it is less expensive than Bragg's. Walmart has it.
yea that's where I get mine but it is like 4-5$ for a bottle. One qt and that would last me only a week if I put it in every time I filled up the water thingy. I don't use it every time. But I want to because the benefits are really good. I'll try making mine. Oh, and my neighbor of going to cull the two PRs that don't do anything but eat my food. That will bring me down to 8 hens. Should be able to manage them without the HOA getting into my business again. What's the difference between 8 and 10 you ask?? Who knows. Maybe not so loud??

I am sorry about your kitty. Been there done that. I use the same vet and every time I go, it seems they put me in the same room where my cat was when I said my last good bye's. And my bunny too...same room. When I go in there a feeling a deep sadness washes over me. My cat has been gone 5 years. crazy
