Texas Coop Build! Pic heavy!

@Shadowmadra78 Making sure chickens get shade is important in our climates, your roof should hopefully accomplish that. I think the roof slant is completely preference, your design sounds good!

Was there a particular reason you went with an L design rather than a straight one?
The L shape was to provide more shade around the trees that I have at my property. The inside corner of the L is at the base of the tree so the tree shaded the coop. If this doesn’t make sense I could post a picture if that would help!

Nah, that makes perfect sense. I am thinking of taking the design, but making it a straight shot instead. It being an L won't really help that much for shade given where I'm looking to put it on my property.

What size plywood did you use for the coop, as far as thickness. There's $5 per sheet price difference in the 1/2" vs the 3/4" pressure treated ground contact down here. Better yet, which would you recommend?

I used 1/2” pressure treated plywood and did the design around the size of the sheets, that’s why the plywood section is eight feet wide. I used 1/2” Bc it was easier to work with and I think that it’s plenty thick to get the job done!

@Shadowmadra78 the 1/2” stands up well in my climate, I would paint your wood or seal it as well as go with the 3/4” for hurricanes. I think 1/2 would work where you are, but better safe than sorry!
