I'm down to two Brahma hens from the same pets hop in Chaing Mai that "Thailand" is talking about. I feel the same way about them as she does; I think they have a lot of health problems because of inbreeding. I am also planning on doing what she is doing and crossing them with other lighter breeds. I love the way that they look, they are so beautiful and their temperaments are sweet and docile, but they just don't handle the heat.

Last trip to Chiang Mai we got some Brahmas from a shop over there. They were small chicks and the owner showed me the parents, now they are bigger and no way they are real Brahmas.
They were not cheap and we lost two because of disease,i need to look into Brahma bantams i think.
They should be a little easier in the heat also and not so aggressive towards other breeds.
We are still looking for Indian runners but we found some African geese.
Anyone got something to trade?

Hi Jack,

African geese or Chinese geese? Reason I ask is because I know they are very similar looking. I've found what I believe to be Chinese geese and am waiting for them to start laying so I can buy some fertile eggs from a source here in Chiang Mai.

If you have photos, I'd love to see them. :)

may you know any one sell pekin - trizzie pekin bantam ?

tks

We have four geese, two African and two Chinese. They are still young but fully grown already,i hope to get some eggs next year.
We did get the African ones first and they are very quiet birds, not a high pitched sound. The African ones, well that is a different story, noisy.
I will try to get some pics and upload them if i can figure that out.
We get monkeys stealing eggs from the henhouse but no monkeys go into the geese pen,but we can not put the geese with the chickens.
When they sound the alarm we know what to do.

I think the difference between the two breeds is easy to see,i have seen Chinese geese who are more slender
and have longer necks.I guess there are two different types.
