Just one of the advantages of living a warm state. I never have to have chicks in the house. It's never too cold here to brood them in the shed. Good thing too, I don't think I could keep my cat outta the brooder!

Oh my bill has been high. I have 2 heat lamps, 2 fount warmers, brooder heat light, and an incubator. My bill is disgusting. We also have a heat pump for our home, that sucks up some electricity!

Yeah my husband keeps asking when we can move ours out but it will be a while cause they are only 4 weeks old.

But he is the first one in the morning to check on them.. so cute...

ugg mine cant even go into their runs as we are getting more and more snow and now we have over a foot and its still coming.

I have to brood inside, and my elecric (not including my gas) was $500 this month and last month I just want to cry!

I haven't brooded chicks in the house for years. Too dusty!

Fortunately the brooder box and hover I'm using now works well at subfreezing temperatures.

I have 25 4H Broilers in my garage. It's disgusting, but what can you do? It's just too cold for outside and it's not like we get to pick when to have them. Good thing today was the county fair. That means they get processed in two weeks. We've been running a ceramic heater and two heat lamps just to keep the critters warm enough.

I WANT MY GARAGE BACK!

My garage is currently DISGUSTING! I've found that raising them on almost pure Stall Dry or PDZ is the best way to go, but it is still nasty. They're pooping machines. I swear they poop as much as my adult geese, only it's stinky.

Honestly, I'm not sure who had the brilliant idea for having the county youth fair in February, but this means we took home day old chicks on January 6th. It snowed the day I picked them up.

I can't believe you lasted so long with chicks inside. That's like superwoman effort or something.
