It was 105 here yesterday (112 by the heat index). I found the whole lot of them standing in the mud puddle behind the air conditioner. There is a little roof that causes the air blowing out of the top of the unit to swirl back down against the wall and it creates enough of a breeze to ruffle their feathers. That was quite a sight -- 10 muddy-footed chickens with feathers flapping! Whatever works, right?

My chicks were panting pretty hard yesterday too so I actually took a bucket to the pond and carried water up to the run bucket by bucket until the run was slightly muddy. They loved it!

Whatever you gotta do right?
