City water usually contains around 3 ppm of free chlorine.

What kind of chlorine are you using and how much per gallon of water?

It shouldn't hurt them. We had chickens in the city and the water had chlorine in it.. I think, that was years ago so I am pretty sure that it had chlorine in it.
