Well, the time has finally come. I have taken the plunge and joined BYC. I have been reading your posts every evening before nodding off and have found it useful and somewhat inspiring. As an individual new to the wonderful world of chickens the aide that has been rendered in the forum has been outstanding. I am currently working on my coop with the aid of my prego Mrs, my little girl and my big black guard dog/chicken herder. I have taken a bit of a break, as we have cleared out the shed that is to be converted to a coop (our 12 seven-week-old chicks are safe in and temp and roam the yard when the dog and I are outside. She protects them from the cats). I was most recently working on the run which is taking shape nicely (especially since it is my first "large-ish" scale building project.) That project had to take a break Sunday after I brought the chop saw down on my left thumb, but I am returning to work on it tonight! Your pictures and advice has been exceptional and invaluable and I hope that my time as a forum member on BYC can help others out as well. I am hoping to post pics of the coop and run when it is finished, probably within the next week or two.

Take Care,

B

Thumb is healing well and yes, we have definitely been bit by the "bug". The run is going to take a little excavation to level a section that has a rather large mound that the fence has to go through. Mrs. ChickenLeo is going to get her camera back from her sister and start taking those pics soon.
