Thank you BYC! Successful flock intergration

i have just added two four-month old Welsummers to flock of five 6-month olds. I put them into the roost after dark, which seemed to work pretty well! they have put themselves to bed in the correct spot all three nights. As there are two of them, they stick together, and I see them cuddling at night up to the big Brahma, who is the 2nd in charge hen. My lead hen, a RIR, seem pretty lenient with them, but keeps them away from me (treat lady). Incredible that the lowest older girl is the one doing the most chasing of the newbies, but they are more mobile, being smalller and way faster than my blue cochin turned meanie! And I have a lot of space for them to make good getaways!

I, too, am making sure to put plenty of treats, food, cut greens, etc all over the place so all gals can get to this yummy stuff. The younger girls ventured out to range with the older girls a few times today, and it didn't seem too awful. Maybe having a pair of them is easier, as they are not going it alone!!??

Good luck!
