Hello there from Colorado! We live in the Rockies at about 8000 feet. This year right at the beginning of quarantine we started our flock of 8 chicks. My daughter, now 16, had been begging to get chickens since she was quite little. And when we could not find eggs anywhere for our family of 5, I was wishing I had acquiesced to her wishes all those years ago! So, off to Murdochs we went, and purchased 8 chicks. Without going into too much detail after some new chick owner mistakes and some issues with ship stress we lost 3, but gained 3 shortly after a trip to our local feed store that was running a buy 2 get 1 free special! Our flock consists of 2 Barred Rocks, 1 Buff Oprpington, 1 Rhode Island Red, 1 Cream Legbar (my personal favorite), 1 Barnevelder, and 1 brown ? And 1 white? Our coop is a refurbished playset that the kids were finished using. We are so thankful for this site, as it has given us so much great advice in the last 7 months!

Want some more advice?......

Get some more chickens and increase your joy of chickeneering! :love
