Whenever I search for info, this group always has the most down-to-earth and helpful, along with friendly info. Got 12 chicks 4 weeks ago. 11 female Buff Orpingtons and a male Black Orpington. They have been in their coop for a week now. May let them free range sometime in the next few days. I've been giving them chopped plaintain, dandelion, mint and other leaves for a while and they will eat out of my hand. I am sure they will love roaming and finding their own selection of plants!

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

If you plant a garden, Kale is another very healthy green our chickens love. They free-range, but the kale would be mowed by them if we let them into the garden. :) We're glad you're here!
Lol, love it! I have plenty of Kale and other greens getting started. How do you keep your chicks out of the garden?

We have silkies who can't fly, so 3' chicken wire keeps them out of it. If yours could fly over that, it comes in wider lengths or, you could put some of that cheap garden netting over it.
