I usually keep mom and babies separate from the flock for the first few days so the chicks can find their feet. After that, I let mamma take the babes out and introduce them to the flock. My rooster is great with the chicks, keeping an eye on them, helping find food, and he'll occasionally sit on the nest when a broody is taking a break.
