This is a great website! We are super new to chickens and have used the forums here to help us with everything from what to feed them to building our chicken coop.
I've wanted chickens and a homestead for 25 years . We finally have 5 Buff Orpingtons and 5 Dominiques but were clueless one what to do to keep them both healthy and safe from predators.
My husband is a retired Marine who also works as a contractor for the Govt and I am his homemaker/homesteader/home-everything wife. We live on a 50 acre place in South Texas so heat and all kinds of predators are our biggest concerns. Thanks to everyone here we built a hot weather coop and are starting our predator proof (hopefully) chicken run this weekend.
Later I'll post pics of the new coop in that conversation area but here are a couple of new peeps and the sunrise view from our back porch..does it get any better?! LOL .
