THANK YOU!!!!!

21 is a respectable number but we are usually much higher. I started out handling him but due to some health reasons, I had his breeder take him in. She shows him much better so that is what I will do from now on. He deserves better on the other end of the lead.
As for my girl, she won't change. She tolerated some shows better than others and looks ok, but she does not ask for it. It is a job for her and thats not what Toys are about. Shame is she is confirmationally perfect, the judges tell me she is her own worse enemy.

Well here's my ignorance on toys, but aren't they allowed to get away with acting a little pouty in the ring? Seems a lot of the toys I've seen aren't showy at all and they get away with it. With terriers, they must NEVER sulk or spook; they have to puff themselves up and act ready to take on the world, which means if you have a shrinking violet you're in big trouble. I'm currently working on my shrinking violet...sigh...

That's a bummer. I had a Siberian Husky years ago that I showed who would walk into the ring and wilt. It just wasn't his "thing". He had wonderful movement - not a foot fell out of place - and he was very typey. I ended up doing obedience with him, got an American and a Canadian CD on him and one CDX leg. He loved it! BTW, his sister was my National Specialty Best of Winners. She absolutely LOVED to show (Look at ME!!!). Go figure...

Mods... Thank You for working so hard for us. This forum provides all of us with so many ideas, so much fun (loved the "chicken vent" thread), and a place to go for help when we need it (both personal and chicken). You guys are the GREATEST and we appreciate you!!!!

The toy group is tough. First of all, the puff balls get more wins in group because people like little fluffy dogs. No, the general attitude of playfulness or proud is good as they are "Toys". They can act like morons on the table and still win. You can get away with alot of bratty behavior but a dog that goes in the ring like it is a job is a tuff show. They need to have some spark even if it embarrasses the owner. take a peek at the spinners in the Chinese Crested ring sometimes. You would die if your terriers acted like that but the judges love it.

Nah, I play with my dogs in the ring...I want them to have fun! It's funny, because spin is my dogs' favorite ring trick (for both breed and obedience). I teach it in both directions. I also use down, shake and high ten. Many of my Scottie friends like to use "beg" or "sit up", the quintessential Scottie trick.

I bred my grump today and have my fingers crossed...if she gets pregnant, puppies would be due about the second week of November, depending on which breeding takes. Here's hoping!
