Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

I am new to chickens. I went to my local tractor supply to get rabbit food and heard some peeping. Since I am from the city and was new to the southern state I had just relocated to, I was automatically intrigued, heck, I had never had rabbits 'till I moved here. I walked over to a huge tub with a red light shining in and fell in love with the hundreds of chirping poofies! I went home and told my husband but then put it out of my mind bc I had my heart set on Pigeons. My husband came home three days later with six Tetra Tint chicks.

How many chickens do you have right now?

I have six Tetra Tints

What breeds do you have?

Tetra Tints....six of 'em!

How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

I found BYC when I was trying to figure out what the heck my husband brought home. "Babe, what breed are they?" DH-"I dunno, she said something about Tettins, let's show them to the girls!" "Are they layers at least!?" DH-"Aren't all chickens?" Let the research commence!

What are some of your other hobbies?

I have two doe rabbits. One has eight kits and the other had two kits this morning. I also have a pair of pigeons who are falling in love and should lay soon.

Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I wanted pigeons but guess what, they hate me, lol. Guess who greets me every morning though? Six of the most not so bright but very sweet chickens I have ever met. They are the only chickens I have ever met, and I love 'em.

Welcome to BYC!

Congrats on the new chicks! It is very hard not to hear all peep peep peeping of the chicks begging you to take them home. I have to avoid all feed stores in the spring time because I am like a kid in a candy store.....or a crazy chicken lady in the feed store.
