We have had our chickens for 3 years. Just doubled our flock this year as nature had taken our numbers down a little and our girls were also laying less. We have 16 hens - 8 that are around 3 and 8 that are 5 months old. The older crew includes 2 americanas, 1 buff orp, 3 barred rock, 2 cherry eggers. New crew is 4 speckled Sussex and 2 each golden and silver laced wyandottes.
Besides chicks, we start beekeeping this year and have 2 dogs - a rottie and a bluetick beagle. The beagle is just one of the girls - they love him and he loves their poop and food. The rottie thinks they are super exciting and has caught our buff a couple of times but inflicted no bodily harm. She’s learned well to watch from afar now.
We live on 5 acres outside of Richmond, Virginia.
