Thanks for the Welcome!

Thank you all for your continued welcomes! The people we bought the black ones from said they were Jersey Giants. But we don't think they are. The orange are commercial egg layer escapees! We've had our birds for going on 3 years now. This is their 3rd winter. They are still producing eggs as well. What kinds of birds do you folks all have? Where abouts are you guys from?

I currently have a temporary "mini flock" of 2 hens, we go through this cycle with every batch of hens (approx every 12 years) These two have just happened to stay a little longer than their old flock mates. I will be getting new chicks soon, my flock is usually about 10 hens (small flock due to coop size). The current two hens are hybrids for laying. I am in Australia, in a relatively rural area.

If you would like your breeds identified, just post pics of them on our What Breed or Gender is This? section at https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this, and let our experts there take a look at them. I live in Hawaii and currently have 25 chickens (all hens, no roosters) in my flock; 7 Black Sex Links, 7 Black Australorps, 4 Buff Orpingtons, and 7 Easter Eggers.
