Hello from South Dakota USA. I am a new chicken mom of 6 Plymouth Rock hens. Over the past 9 months I've fallen in love with raising chickens. My family thinks I'm a little on the crazy side🤪. My girls were doing amazing up until about 2 weeks ago. Winter boredom has set in and I'm having behavior issues. Pecking is the horrible habit that has started. Mostly on their butts. To the point of making them bleed. I've added higher protein to their feed (witnessed them eating the feathers they pull) I added a flock block. We are going to add an additional roost to their coop inside. As well as a couple more to their outdoor pen. I removed 3 of my hens that seemed to be getting picked on the worse. Today I bought Blu-Kote to spray on their bare red butts to hopefully keep the others from pecking them. I really hope these things are the answer and we can get back to being a healthy, happy flock. I would love any other suggestions from you all! Thanks a bunch.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
I would suggest starting another thread in the Coop and Run forum and post pictures of your entire setup. The birds need lots of space and things to do to occupy their time during the winter. The flock block isn't the best for that as it's going to dilute their complete diet and further reduce protein levels.
